4th Marking Period Report Cards will be available Tuesday, July, 7, 2015. 

Report Cards can be obtained by visiting the school office between the hours of 8:00 AM - 1:30 PM, Monday - Friday.



On Monday, June 8th, 2015 the Hazleton Area Board of Education, unanimously selected Dr. Craig Butler as the Superintendent of Schools. 

Dr. Butler recently served as the district's Assistant Superintendent of Schools under Dr. Francis Antonelli, who retired on June 1, 2015 after serving the district for 44 years. 

Dr. Butler's term will begin on July 1st, 2015 and will continue until June 30th, 2018.  

The Hazleton Area Board of Education would like to thank our staff, students, parents, and community, for their patience and support of the in-depth process that began in January. 

We wish Dr. Butler well in his new position and we all look forward to working together for the betterment of the Hazleton Area School District.

Superintendent Search Update:

On Friday, May 8th, three candidates were interviewed for a second time. The candidates are: David Baugh, who currently serves as Superintendent of the Bensalem Area School District. Craig Butler, who is the Assistant Superintendent in the Hazleton Area School District, and George Donadi, who is the Director of Elementary/Middle School operations for the Hazleton Area School District.

Each candidate was interviewed individually by a committee that comprised; students, teachers/staff members, administrators, central office members, community members, and members of the Board of Education. The process was a full-day and the candidates expressed their appreciation for the efforts and willingness of the entire district to host such a thorough process.

The Board met on Thursday, May 14th to discuss the results of both interviews that have been conducted and a second meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20th where a candidate is expected to be chosen.

The desire of the Board of Education is to hire the Superintendent at the Board meeting scheduled for May 28th. 

The Board of Education would also like to thank everyone who assisted in the process with a very special thank you to the student representatives who provided a very thought provoking and sincere interview for the candidates.

Also, the search committee is very appreciative of the efforts of Mrs. Jamie Schnee and Nutrition Inc., for assisting in many of the details of the interview.

The second round of interviews for the position of Superintendent of Schools which was originally scheduled for Thursday, April 30th has been moved to Friday, May 8th

A scheduling conflict with members of the search committee, as well as with one of our candidates is the reason for the change of date.

4/17/2015 Update 
The First round of interviews for our Superintendent position was held on Thursday April 16th. Four candidates were interviewed by seven members of our Board of Education, our District Solicitor, and our Director of Human Resources.

Each candidate spent between 70 and 90 minutes in front of the committee answering 15 questions about various topics of school management. At the conclusion of the question phase of the interview the candidates were given the opportunity to ask questions related to the position and the overall operation of the Hazleton Area School District.

The committee unanimously agreed that all four (4) members should be brought back for a second interview which will be held on Thursday, April 30th. The second round will encompass participation from a variety of stakeholders that make up the HASD. Each candidate will be individually interviewed by a group of students, faculty and staff, administrators, and members of our community.

The Hazleton Area School District is seeking parents, students, concerned citizens, community leaders, and faculty and staff members who would be interested in being part of the second round of interviews. The community component of the interview process will begin at approximately 5:00 P.M. and is expected to last until 9:00 P.M.  We can accommodate 50-60 participants and encourage the involvement of our community to take part in this process.

Board of Education                 

Upon the announcement of the retirement of Dr. Francis Antonelli the Board of Education set out a national search to fill the position. The Board of Education has undertaken the process in-house which began in early February and included placing notices of the opening in several State and National educational forums.

Upon the closing of the submission period (March 31st) the Board of Education met on April 7th to review the applicants.

A total of 9 applications were received and after evaluating each applicant and their credentials the Board of Education will be interviewing 4 candidates on Thursday, April 16th. This first round will consist of an question and answer session with the Board of Education, our Human Resource Director and our Solicitor.

A second round interview will be scheduled and this round will involve participation from a representation of all district stakeholders.
